Foreword By The Executive Mayor Of The City Of Johannesburg, Councillor Amos Masondo

We welcome The South African Ballet Theatre’s move to the City of Johannesburg. This is in line with our vision to build Johannesburg into a world class African city and will assist in positioning  Johannesburg as a cultural hub, thereby enhancing our efforts to advance the arts.Its location in Braamfontein will further advance our work at ensuring urban renewal. It will link well with the Johannesburg Civic Theatre-SAPPI-Metro Centre precinct development initiative in Braamfontein. We are impressed with the outreach work being done by  The South African Ballet Theatre in areas such as Alexandra, Kathlehong, Mamelodi and Eersterus. This Outreach programme is further enriched by the company’s educational components through its school and academy. We look foward to a long and mutual enriching partnership with The South African Ballet Theatre.
