“The Voice-overs project had a distant genesis in an exhibition put together by a curatorial team from the Wits art establishment. The members were Rayda Becker and Fiona Rankin-Smith from the Wits Art Galleries, Alan Crump and Karel Nel from the Fine Art Department, and me, from the history of Art Department. We intended to showcase the ‘treasures’ contained in the Standard Bank African Art Collection, so a show, comprising a number of its extraordinary objects, went to the Standard Bank National Festival of the Arts in Grahmstown in 1999.” – Anitra Nettleton
