TAXI Art Book Educational Supplement: Kagiso Pat Mautloa

This educational supplement is published together with a TAXI Art Book on Kagiso Pat Mautloa. The artist was born in 1952 in Ventersdorp. While still at school he attended classes at the Jubilee Art Centre in Johannesburg, then at Mofolo Art Centre in Soweto. He finally enrolled at the Fine Art School of the Rorke’s Drift Art and Craft Centre in KwaZulu-Natal, receiving his Diploma in 1979. Mautloa then worked as a graphic designer while participating in numerous local and international artists’ workshops. This soon drew attention to Mautloa’s work’s and he embarked on an active exhibition career in South Africa and abroad. He has worked as a full-time artist since 1993, and now has a studio at the Bag Factory in Johannesburg, where a number of other well-known artists work.
